I love history. Studied it in high school and continued in college. I have to ask tho after reading about so many empires and different cultures Ive never known a group of people to conquor a country then after doing so teach the people they conquored about themselves. It just never happened. So why would we expect the United States to do for us? I never got that. I ask kats this question all the time and get nothing useful in return.

Another question I have is if the United States is required to teach black people about self shouldn't it also be required for the native and mexican americans as well? But if were all included don't you think the other cultures in our country will want there piece as well. Where will it end?

Concealment is wicked, enlightenment is righteous. This is why knowledge of self is so important, there have been history preservers and prophets (books moreso) that have come along to reteach people about their cultures. How did Alex Haley do his story for Roots? His ancestors made it imperative that they tell the TRUE history of their family line to offspring and descendants. This is why in my way of life we are required to cap or memorize our lessons, cause what happens when the actual ones are lost or stolen? But, people can not depend on their enemies to enlighten them. That's why I can't stand when black people EXPECT things from white people, like reparations, demanding is different though.

One of my favorite scenes in cinema history is when the man who gave Malcolm X knowledge of self in the movie (fictional character, in TRUE life Malcolm got knowledge of self from his brother, goes back to my Roots comment, each one teach one) and he asks him "who are you? Do you know who you are?" Malcolm couldn't answer, had no knowledge of his people or history AT ALL. He went to school but they aint teach nothing about that. Knowledge is power, when you know who you are you won't fall victim to bullshit, when you know it is not in your nature to be a pimp, hustla, gangster or thug or a nigg_r you will not act like one and continue to be self destructive or even use that word. Them muthafuckaz that stripped us of our way of life, culture language "god" and what not, they knew what they were doing, so doesn't it only make sense that we obtain all that back?
